How do I connect my game console or smart TV to the internet?

When would you use this?

Many devices that connect to the Framingham State University wireless network are not designed to process the encryption the University uses to establish secure connections over the FSU_Wireless network. To accommodate these types of devices, FSU allows students and employees to register these devices ahead of time and connect them to the FSU_Guest network. The security used on FSU_Guest is much easier for some devices to process. 

Instructions:

To register your device, please follow the instructions below:

1. Visit https://wifi.framingham.edu and log in with your FSU credentials:
   • Students
     • Username: first initial + last name account (ex. jsmith or jsmith4)
     • Password: FSU student account password
   • Employees
     • Username: campus\ + user account (ex. campus\jsmith or campus\jsmith4)
     • Password: FSU campus account password
2. After you log in, you will see the Register your device page.
3. Enter the following:
   • MAC address (required): the unique identifier for the device.
     • In the format of six (6) pairs of numbers (0-9) and letters (A-F). (Ex. 04:A6:BC:98:2E:DF or E3-2D-67-86-BA-2F)
     • May also be called the "physical address" or "Wi-Fi address."
     • It is often printed on the box or listed in the device's system/network settings. See your device's documentation if needed. 
   • Device name (optional): a short label to help you recognized the device later (ex. "Living room TV" or "Xbox").
4. Click the Register device button.
5. When registration succeeds, you can:
   • Select View my devices to see devices you have registered.
   • Select Register another device to add more devices.
6. Click Sign out.
7. Connect your registered device to the FSU_Guest network. It should now connect to the Internet. If it does not immediately connect, you may need to wait a few minutes.

At any time, you can sign into wifi.framingham.edu and choose My devices or Register device from the links year the top of the page.
