The University has partnered with "Admin by Request" to provide a streamlined process for members of the community to request the rights to install programs on their university owned computers. This software will work in one of two ways:
1. End User Request: If there is a particular piece of software that you need to have installed, you may click on the program and receive an "Admin by Request" window. This window will allow you to submit a request to the Service Desk automatically with the software name and the reason you want to install it. Only legitimate business reasons will be considered for approval of software installations.

These requests go directly to personnel at the IT Service Desk and will be reviewed upon receipt. If approved you will be notified by a message on your computer, and by and E-Mail sent to your university E-Mail account. You will then be able to install the software without any further intervention. If there is a question by IT Service Desk personnel you will be contacted directly before approval is granted. You may make as many requests as are necessary for the amount of software you need installed. If you are attempting to install large amount of software all at once, it would be best to contact the IT Service Desk and discuss your needs with them.
2. Pre-Approved Allow List: Several pieces of software (ex. Adobe Acrobat) have already been approved within our system. These programs should run with administrator rights automatically when you click on them. If you have software that you would like to have reviewed for addition to this list, please open a request in our system by visiting https://myit.framingham.edu. Applications added to this list generally are used by more then one employee and has sufficient licensing to be used by more then one individual at a time.
If you experience any issues with the Admin By Request software, please contact the IT Service Desk at 508-215-5906, by E-Mail at IT@framingham.edu or by opening a ticket in our system directly by visiting https://myit.framingham.edu. We thank the community for assisting us with keeping our devices free of malicious software and maintaining a secure environment for all faculty, staff and students.
