FSU's Copilot Licensing

FSU's Copilot licensing automatically includes Copilot Chat, which works very similarly to other AI chat tools such as ChatGPT. 

How to access Copilot Chat

There are multiple ways to access Copilot. The three most common are:

  • Sign into office.com using your FSU email. Once signed in, it will automatically take you to Copilot ChatUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  • When you are signed into any online Microsoft app (such as Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive), click the menu at the top left of the page and select CopilotUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  • If you have a Windows computer, you may have Copilot installed as a desktop application. Sign in using your FSU credentials, and select "Work or School Account" when promptedUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  • When signed into Teams, Copilot will automatically show up as a tab on the left side of the application. If it doesn't automatically appear, you may need to use the three-dot icon in your toolbar to addUploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Once you are signed in you will see this screen, and you can let Copilot know what you need help with.

What can you do with Copilot Chat?

  • Answer questions on almost any topic
  • Summarize articles, books, or reports
  • Help with academic or professional research
  • Find the latest news, trends, or data

  • Explain programming concepts
  • Help write or debug code (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Create visualizations or analyze datasets
  • Build small tools or scripts

🎨 Visuals & Design

  • Generate custom artwork or illustrations
  • Help with design ideas or branding
  • Create diagrams or flowcharts

🌍 Daily Life & Fun

  • Recommend books, movies, or recipes

Why log in with FSU Credentials?

When signed in to Copilot Student (with your credentials) you'll see the shield in the image below:Microsoft "Data Encryption" Shield logo

This shield indicates that the data you enter into Copilot falls under Microsoft's Enterprise Data Protection, which offers additional security and privacy.
