Introduction
In general, Lockdown Browser can only be used with Canvas Quizzes. So if you are having your student do any activity (any kind of assessment/quiz/test/exam etc) on a publisher platform (including a Canvas integration), you will probably not be able to take advantage of Lockdown Browser, at least not easily or seamlessly. This article describes the scenarios in which you might be able to use LDB with publisher platforms, and a few work-arounds.
Direct Integrations
There are a small number of products that directly integrate with Lockdown Browser including Cengage WebAssign (but not Mindtap), McGraw Hill ALEKS (but not Connect or other McGraw Hill products), Hawkes Learning, and Pearson MyLab (but not other Pearson products). If you use one of these products that has a direct integration, please contact the vendor for assistance with set up.
In 2026 an integration with WileyPlus was announced for Fall 2026. Wiley has requested that any instructor who wishes to use this integration must contact them directly to allow the integration to be turned on for individual courses. They have also provided this documentation:
Workaround 1: Export Quiz Questions and Create a Canvas Quiz:
If your publisher platform does not provide a direct integration with LDB, one option could be to export a quiz or quiz questions from the publisher and then create a new Canvas Quiz with those questions.
This option is dependent upon the publisher providing functionality to export quizzes/quiz questions in a compatible format (QT1 1.2 or QTI 2.0 or higher). Please consult with the publisher to determine whether this type of export is available. As of 2026, it is known that McGraw-Hill Connect provides this functionality. An instruction guide provided by McGraw-Hill is attached.

Workaround 2: Link to Publisher Activity from Canvas Quiz:
In this option, you will create a new Canvas quiz that has only one question -a "Text Block" question (New Quizzes) or a "Text/No Question" type question (Classic Quizzes). In that question, you will create a hyperlink to the publisher activity: a Course Link to a Canvas Assignment or a direct link to the activity on the publisher platform.
Next step (IMPORTANT): In Lockdown Browser, enable Lockdown Browser for the Canvas Quiz you just created. Under "Advanced Settings," click "Allow access to specific web domains". Here, you must list ALL the domains that are used by the publisher platform. You must inquire with the publisher about these domains - it is likely there are multiple that must be listed. If the domains are not listed here with 100% accuracy, the students will not be able to access to the activity. Therefore, in addition to getting the information from the publisher, it is crucial that the instructor creates a practice test with these settings to ensure that students are able to access the publisher platform. This should be done well in advance of implementation of this solution for an official assessment.
