Answer:
Microsoft Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) creates an additional layer of security when logging into your Microsoft 365 account. This additional security is associated with something in your possession, such as a personal smartphone, that would be unavailable to someone who gained access to your Microsoft 365 account.
The first factor in MFA is your account password. The most convenient and secure second factor option is to use the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app on your smartphone to approve the sign-in.
If the wrong code or no code is entered, your Microsoft 365 account cannot be accessed.

Add a Second Device to MFA
Once you set up your first device, it is actually quite simple to add a second.
Go to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info and sign in with your Framingham email and password. You may, or may not, have to authenticate using your first device.
Once signed in, you should see Security Info at the top of the page. Click Add Method and you will receive a prompt to choose the Authenticator App, Alternate Phone, or Office Phone.
Make sure you are near the additional device, the system will request you to verify that device by answering the call and pressing # or by entering a code that is sent by text message.
Once the device is verified, next time you try to sign in, you will be able to choose your second device by clicking "I can't use this... right now".
