If you have used the Google Drive or Office 365 submission tabs (#7 in screenshot below) to pull files for Canvas Assignment submissions in the past, you may notice that they are no longer available. This article will describe different ways you can still pull files from your MS OneDrive to submit to Canvas Assignments.

There are several possible workarounds:
- Download the files from OneDrive to your computer, then simply use the "File Upload" option: Click "Browse" (#2 in screenshot above), and navigate to the location of the file on your computer.
- Navigate directly to OneDrive. This option requires that OneDrive is synced to your computer's local storage, and technically it requires that you have the OneDrive app installed on your computer. See Sync your computer's files and folders with OneDrive . This article has instructions for both Windows and macOs. Windows 11 users can skip the first step in that article because the OneDrive app is already installed.
- Windows 11 (and higher): OneDrive is already installed.
- Windows 10 (and older): Users will need to download the OneDrive app
- macOS : Users will need to download the OneDrive app
Another option would be to provide your instructor a Share link to your file in OneDrive or Google Drive. Your instructor may not allow this option. This is a less optimal solution because:
- It requires that the user correctly set sharing settings correctly or else the instructor will not be able to open the file
- This option would not allow the instructor to be able to view, or annotate/grade the document within Canvas - they would have to click on the link to open the file (in a new tab).
- Finally, with this option, the student would still be able to make changes to the document after the submission deadline. This may be a positive or a negative, depending on the nature of the assignment.
Therefore, students should not expect that their instructors will allow them to submit a link in lieu of a file.
