What's New in Canvas? Fall 2023

Effective August 21, look out for 2 new feature options that will be enabled in Canvas: Discussion Redesign and Enhanced Gradebook Filters!

Discussion Redesign

Highlights:

• Anonymous discussion option! Set all respondents to anonymous, or allow students to choose anonymity
• Mention a classmate (with @ symbol) to get their attention or quote a previous reply
• Reporting - allow students to report offensive posts. This feature can be turned on/off by instructors.

Enhanced Gradebook Filters

Highlights:

• Reduces the number of different option menus in the gradebook
• New filters available: filter by submission status (late, missing, etc), filter by due date range, filter by graded/ungraded
• Create and save custom filter pre-sets
• Filter by both column and by row
