How do I adopt a textbook in Perusall?

Tags perusall

Perusall has many options for adding content, including the option to adopt textbooks directly.

Perusall partners with many leading publishers so that you can use your preferred textbook within the platform. To add a textbook to your course, navigate to the Library tab on the course home page, click Add > Textbook, and then browse our catalog of available titles.

If you don't see the title you are interested in using, contact Perusall's operations team and they'll work with the publisher to make it available within Perusall.

When you request a book already in our catalog, it will typically be added to your course within 24 hours. If you request a book that is not in our catalog, we will follow up with you with information about the book's availability.

When you adopt a textbook within Perusall, your students will either be prompted to purchase the book within Perusall or redeem a Perusall access code the first time they access it. Students can choose to buy directly in the Perusall course, or enter an access code purchased at your college bookstore. If students purchase directly within Perusall, they can choose to pay by credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or get access instantly but pay later with Affirm or Klarna. Depending on your region, students may have additional region-specific purchase options available.

Students must purchase the book through Perusall, either online or by redeeming a Perusall access code purchased at the bookstore. (At this time, we are unable to grant access to a book in Perusall when it has been purchased elsewhere.)

If you'd like your students to purchase access at your bookstore, simply let your bookstore know that you plan to adopt the Perusall version of the book. Learn more about ordering Perusall access codes

Even if you use a textbook in your Perusall course, you can still upload your own documents and assign readings both from the book and from your own documents. There is no cost to the students to use Perusall with a textbook beyond the cost of the book itself.
