When would you use this?
After performing a Canvas course copy, it appears that the user's customized homepage from their previous course has not copied over. Instead of the homepage they expected to see, they see the "Template" homepage, like the one shown below:
The user thinks that maybe the course copy did not work.
Instructions:
Most likely, the course copy did work, and the page did copy over successfully, but it was not set as the official course homepage. Unfortunately this does not happen automatically. The homepage must be manually reset.
1. Navigate to "Pages" in the Course Navigation menu for the new course. When you click on Pages, you will again see whatever page is currently set as your homepage.
2. Click on "View All Pages" (button a the top of the page, just to the right of the Course Navigation Menu). This will finally bring you to a list of all pages in the course. You will see that one of them is labelled as the "Homepage" (the name of this page is probably "Home" or some variation of Home).
3. Determine which page is the homepage you would like to set as your homepage. If you have many different versions of homepages that all have similar names, you may need to open a few of them (try right clicking and select "Open in a New Tab") to figure out which is the right one.
4. When you have found the page you want to use, click on the More menu (3 dots) to the right of the page title. Select "Use as Front Page"
5. [Optional, but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED] - if your homepage is currently titled "Home," "Home-1," "Home-2," etc, rename your preferred page to a recognizable name that will be easy to identify next time. For example: "Ufoloy 102 Official Course Homepage". To do this, click on the More menu for the page and select "Edit". You will be prompted to enter a new title. It is also recommended that you delete additional copies of homepages that have accumulated over several course copies.
