3CX Application for Windows and MacOS

Summary

Provides instructions to install the 3CX softphone software on a Windows 10 machine. Also provides a detailed guide on the layout and functionality of the 3CX application. MacOS users can use the Chrome based 3CX extension as there is currently no app available for MacOS.

Looking for a way to make and receive calls from your PC or laptop when working from home?  The 3CX softphone allows you to make and receive calls as if it were a physical desktop phone.

In addition to Android and iOS the 3CX "softphone" client can be installed on a Windows 10/11 machine.  

To install the 3CX Windows based softphone:

1.  Review the welcome E-Mail that was originally sent with your voicemail login information and extension.

2. 3CX App for Windows - Download and install the 3CX Windows app.

3. In your welcome E-Mail, double click the attached configuration file.  This file will provide the app with all your extension and login information.

4. Once configured the application will appear in the system tray 3CX taskbar icon image. and will load on Windows start up.

Once installed, find the welcome email and download the configuration file to your desktop. Drag the Configuration file into the open 3CX app and your line will auto-configure.

Auto Configuration takes about 3 to 5 Minutes. It is recommended to pin the 3CX app to the dock for convenience. 



Application Guide:

1.  Registered user's name and location. 2.  User's status: Available, Away , Do Not Disturb, Lunch, and Business Trip (out of office).  3.  Softphone button:  When selected can toggle between office handset and softphone software.  4.  Queue Button:  Sets your extension as availalbe to any assigned queues that its assigned to (if any).  5.  Call Status:  Shows if the software is on hook, on phone dialing, etc.  6.  Search Box:  Allows searching of numbers in the directory by name, location and number.  7.  User List:  displays list of users that can be searched.  Grouped by queue or department.  8.  Presence Information:  Returns you to the main screen.  9.  Contacts:  Any extensions or users you've added to your contacts list.  10.  Call History:  Lists all calls that you have made, received or missed.  11.  Voicemail:  Allows management of any voicemails currently available or saved.  12.  Chat Feature:  Allows for chat communications with other 3CX users.  13. Button Not Currently used.  Please ignore.  14.  Conference Setup:  Allows for a small conference bridge to be setup.  15.  Switchboard:  Allows veiwing and management of call queues.  Not available to all users.  16.  Settings:  INcludes various settings for the 3CX software.  Includes audio, video, recording and management options.  17.  Additional Settings:  Includes views, user guides, conferencing and allows you to exit the application.
