The Education Technology Office (ETO) offers faculty training on instructional design and the effective use of educational technology. Training is delivered as workshops and through individual consultations. You can also view a printable version of the Instructional Design Services (see "Attachments" on right side of this page).
Teaching Online Workshop
This 4-week facilitated online course focuses on the pedagogy of online teaching and how to use available tools. In this workshop, you experience an online course from a student's perspective and get feedback from the instructional designer on the creation of online assignments. The workshop is delivered asynchronously with optional weekly tech demos delivered via Zoom.

Online Learning Institute
This semester-long Institute starts with weekly meetings in January and February to engage in topics such as module design, accessibility, course alignment, and creating social presence. Participants are expected to already have experience teaching online and are required to be actively teaching an online or hybrid course. The Institute encourages faculty to use student perceptions about the value of assignments, their self-efficacy to learn online, or their sense of community in the course to drive their course design improvements. Individuals are paired with experienced faculty mentors who participate in the workshop and provide ongoing support throughout the spring semester. The culminating final project asks participants to reflect on their success in updating their course design based (in part) on student perception data.

Lunch Time Workshops
Hour-long workshops for faculty and staff cover a wide range of topics, such as video creation, discussion design, accessibility - and more! These workshops are offered in a Hyflex modality: participate face-to-face in Hemenway Hall 107 or virtually through Zoom.
