How to email students

When would you use this?

You are an instructor looking to send a message to one or more students in one of your courses.

Instructions:

Canvas

NOTE: Messages sent from Canvas will only be distributed by email once the course is published. Once the course is Published, you can use the announcements tool to send messages to the entire class, or the Canvas Inbox to send messages to different combinations of students (e.g. one student, a few students, or the whole class).

To find a list of the email addresses that your students have in their Canvas account for notifications, use the New Analytics > Reports tool as demonstrated in this video: "How to Get a Course Roster with Email Addresses from Canvas" (1:40 min).
