How to map a shared drive on a PC

 

When would you use this?

In order to connect to your department's shared drive, you will need to map it to your computer.

Instructions:

  1. Press Win + E to open the File Explorer window. (Alternatively, you can also type File Explorer where it says, Type here to search, in the lower left of your screen) 
  2. Right click on This PC from the left side of the window
  3. Select Map Network... from the list
  4. Choose a drive letter
  5. Enter the server location in the Folder field

     
  6. Select the checkbox for Reconnect at sign-in
  7. Click Finish

Your new location is mapped and you should be able to access your files normally! 

Environment/Applies To:

Windows, Shared drive, Network drive, Faculty and Staff

Additional Information:

Shared drives can only be accessed while connected to FSU_Wireless or VPN.
