How to add a network printer to a PC

 

When would you use this?

If you have a new computer and need to set up printer(s), or if you are troubleshooting your current printer(s).

Instructions:

Faculty and staff members may print to the network printer(s) assigned to their department, such as the building copier or color printer. In order to connect, you must know the printer's name or its IP address.

  1. Click the Start icon in the lower left corner of your screen. 
  2. Type \\printsrv in the search bar 

  1. Hit the enter key
  2. Locate your desired printer and double click on its name
  3. Repeat step 4 for mapping more than one printer

Additional Information:

You must be on campus to print, either over Ethernet connection or FSU_Wireless.

Windows will install the printer driver if necessary. If the printer is installed successfully, it will appear on your list of available printers. 

To verify the printer is correctly installed, click the Start button and search for “Printers & Scanners".
