Getting Started with Canvas for New Instructors

Canvas is FSU's Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas offers a mobile-friendly, accessible interface to support teaching and learning. Faculty, students, and staff use Canvas to share information and course materials, engage in critical thinking activities, and collaborate online.

To get started with the Canvas LMS:

Note: Most of the resources below are accessible without FSU login credentials. New hires who have not received login credentials should also view: Get Started with Canvas without an FSU Account.   1. Check out Growing With Canvas  - a training course developed in Canvas by the Education Technology Office (ETO). 
  2. Register for an upcoming workshop offered by ETO or view recordings of past workshops (start with Introduction to Canvas.)
  3. Review the Canvas Instructor Guides 
  4. In Canvas, the "Help and Information" button (bottom left of screen) offers 24/7 chat and phone support
  5. Reach out to ETO!  A support ticket can be submitted by accessing the ITS self-service portal or by emailing eto@framingham.edu. You may also call ETO at 508-626-4927 during normal business hours. ETO offers one-on-one consultations in person, via zoom, or phone.
