Framingham State University has deployed a “Phishing Alert Button” or PAB in the Microsoft Outlook Windows client and in the https://mail.office365.com webmail. This button will allow faculty, staff and students to easily report to ITS E-Mail messages that they believe might be fraudulent, spam or phishing messages.
To use the PAB in the Microsoft Outlook Windows client, select the “Phish Alert Report” button which is located either on the “Home” ribbon or on the “Message” ribbon, depending on how you’re viewing the suspicious message.
In the https://mail.office365.com webmail, the “Phish Alert” button will be in the apps menu:
Selecting either option will present you with the reporting window:
From this window you will have the option to indicate in the report if you believe the message is phishing (or just suspicious), or is simple Spam. Select the “Phish Alert” button when you are ready to submit your report.
ITS will review each report and take necessary remediation efforts if they are necessary. Due to the large number of notices that are sent, not every report will receive a response from ITS, and most responses will be pre-determined by the system. In special cases an ITS staff member might follow up with you about your report.
If you have any questions about the Phishing Alert Button (PAB) please contact the Technology Resource Center at 508-215-5906, IT@framingham.edu or through our portal at https://myit.framingham.edu.
