General Statement of Duties:

The Student AV Support Specialist provides first-tier technical support for Framingham State University’s Technology Enhanced Classrooms, Meeting spaces, and other freestanding Audiovisual equipment across campus. They will assist the Audiovisual Analyst and the Manager of Campus Technology in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of Audiovisual equipment used in technology enhanced spaces. Additionally, they are responsible for assisting faculty, students, and staff in the general use of classroom technologies, providing technical assistance to users if problems occur, and escalating issues when appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment that faculty, staff, and students may encounter in classrooms and technology enhanced spaces.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on Audiovisual equipment located in various locations across campus.
  • Assists in the training and use of technology in enhanced classrooms and meeting spaces.
  • Assists with inventory control and associated documentation of all Audiovisual technology.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as determined by the Audiovisual Analyst and the Manager of Campus Technology.
  • Provide faculty, Staff, and Students with first-tier technical support for Framingham State’s Audiovisual Classroom Technology, and software applications used for learning and instruction such as Canvas, Panopto, and Zoom.
  • Maintain a professional and organized work environment.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by members of the full-time Education Technology Office staff.

Special Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • All of the work associated with the duties and responsibilities for this position is ordinarily performed at Framingham State’s main campus and might be done periodically from a remote location consistent with the conditional provisions specified within University’s Telework Guidelines and in accordance with an approved Telework Agreement.

Qualifications:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to lift 25lbs unassisted.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance. Able to use a hand cart to transport equipment.
  • Physically able to walk across campus frequently, as needed during a shift.
  • Willing and physically able to to work on ladders up to 8 feet high and to become OSHA certified.
  • Able to learn and follow instructions as required.
  • Willing and able to learn how to use hand tools such as screw drivers, pliers, and wrenches.
  • Able to manage one’s time effectively and balance both job responsibilities and academic success.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage in a customer service environment.
  • Interest in using technology in an academic setting
  • Proactively manage assigned workload and to execute tasks in a timely manner, while maintaining high academic standards.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 required.
