Virtual Events

Description or Overview

This service provides a blend of technical and administrative support for webinars, sometimes also referred to as virtual events, which are purely online gatherings that consist of some sort of informative or instructional presentation with one or more people speaking to a relatively larger audience than what’s typical for a class session or meeting.  Zoom is the virtual event software platform that is supported by Framingham State University’s Information Technology Services organization.

 

Features and Benefits
  • Login through Framingham State’s single sign-on (only required for the host)

  • Real-time audio, video and screen sharing

  • Live streaming (public events only)

  • Up to 500 participants and attendees

  • The event may be opened to the public if desired

  • Functionality that allows the host to control content, moderate participation, and restrict access (e.g. requiring registration and/or passwords)

  • Interactive features to encourage audience participation (e.g. polls, surveys, raise hand, chat, etc.)

  • Closed captioning and Recording

 

Included
  • License to use Zoom Webinar
  • Consultative support prior to creating, organizing, and hosting a Zoom Webinar virtual event
  • Setup of User Account and Access Privileges
  • Documentation and training
  • Assistance with creating and organizing a virtual event and basic setup or troubleshooting of network connectivity, computer, audio visual equipment.  Support during the event is contingent upon the availability of technical support staff, and limited to the hours of Information Technology Services operations as shown on the Home screen located in the menu bar above.

This service is available to all university

  • Faculty
  • Staff

 

Prerequisites
  • A license to use Zoom Webinar is required (occasional users may be granted a temporary license)

  • Requests for support and licenses must be submitted 2 weeks prior to the date of the virtual event

 

Requesting the Service
  • The University has a limited number of Zoom Webinar licenses.  If you do not already have a license to use Zoom Webinar, click the "Request a Consultation or Training" button (above right) to request one. 
  • For technical support or to report a problem select the appropriate button to the above right.
