Software Applications

Overview

The scope of this service includes the licensing of or subscription to software applications and services that are supported by the University’s Information Technology Services (ITS) organization along with related support such as; providing access to Software as a Service (SaaS) applications and virtual applications or virtual desktops, as well as the distribution, installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting of locally installed software along with supporting documentation and training.  Other service attributes include the following:

  • Procuring, renewing, and terminating software licenses and subscriptions to SaaS applications that are provided by the University for authorized use by students, faculty, and staff along with maintenance and support agreements as part of overall vendor management.
  • Installing, configuring, distributing, upgrading, and removing properly licensed software on University owned computers and mobile devices.
  • Configuring and providing access to SaaS applications that the University subscribes to and ITS supports.

Eligibility

Students, faculty and staff are all eligible for this service.

Features and Benefits
  • ITS secures the best possible terms and conditions for software application licenses and SaaS subscriptions based on volume discounts and higher education pricing whenever possible.
  • Clearly defined standards and service levels for University supported software applications are maintained and proactively managed.

Prerequisites
  • All students, faculty and staff and other authorized users of the software applications are eligible for this service.
  • Procurement of new application software that is not among the licenses or subscriptions for University standards funded from the annual ITS budget allocation will need to be funded by the academic department or administrative office that is seeking to procure them and purchased in accordance with University policies and procedures. Therefore, the funding sources for new application software procurements needs to be identified before submitting a request for new application software.  ITS will then require a valid software license number and other required media or information before installing or distributing locally installed or virtually hosted software.
